We’re still not sure if the wedding will still be held in the winery but we’ll let you know as soon as Chris confirms.

It’s cold but I am still going to wear Danielle’s shmexy dress. We’ve been discussing wedding cake and cupcake science for days and I can’t wait to work on it with her.

For this first wedding, we wanted something small, something boho, something unique. Heck, the plans started with a simple backyard bash complete with a keg of beer and spaghetti platter. But there was a problem: we didn’t have an appropriate backyard.

So Chris had to look for a reception venue and he found the Red Pine Inn. I wasn’t sure about an indoor, dark ceremony venue so I suggested having the ceremony somewhere else. So we settled on Red Bank Battlefield Park. And because we’re having an outdoor wedding with all that gorgeous natural light and beautiful scenery, I suggested hiring a pro photographer. Being an amateur photography enthusiast, I couldn’t bear having wedding photos with wrong lighting, awkward shadows, and bad angles where tummies and big arms are the only things that one sees. Chris and I argued for days until he finally folded – with the condition that I would find a photographer who wouldn’t be too expensive. So I found a nice, Swedish photojournalist from Philadelphia. And then the wedding had to be rescheduled. We lost the park AND the photographer. We had to search and search and search for replacements until we finally found Cedarvale Winery who agreed to rent out their vineyard for an incredibly reasonable price–incidentally, they were the last one on the list we called as all the other nearby wineries didn’t allow weddings. And then we found Perfect Day photography, which was recommended by another photographer and didn’t have a crazy-high price for unlimited hours, locations and photos.

*takes a deep breath*

Of course, we have our blessings, too. Dear Danielle agreed to be Maid of Honor. Jay said “aye!” as Best Man. Danielle gave me her beautiful art-deco wedding dress (I. must. diet.) and offered to do my hair while Robbin, who is a make-up artist, also offered her services for free.

We’ll still have our simple civil wedding with the homemade wedding cake. Only it’ll be a little bit flashier. I wish my parents could come and see all of this.
